I know you can

by Searching for Guidance   Aug 25, 2008

I wish I could tell you all the things that must be said,
But that'd be so hard now, now that your dead.
Your not dead in body, solely in spirit
If you yelled out to me, maybe I'd hear it.

But you don't want me, even if I'm there to help,
You'll never let out a whimper, much less a yelp.
This cave you've trapped yourself inside, won't let you out,
All I ask is for you to just say what it's about.

What went wrong is it drugs, or something worse?
I wish you would tell me, so I could see you alive, not in a hurse.
You must know I'm always here.
I will never let you go, my dear.

For when we said "best friends," we also said "forever,"
And I will never break that pact, I promise you NEVER.
Even if you close me out and try to push me away,
I'll still be there at your doorstep, the very next day.

You won't do this alone, I'll stand there by your side.
I'll even turn a cheek, so you may try to hide,
The tears that stream fast down your face.
I know you feel a disgrace.

But I am your best friend,
And I will be there until the end.
Let me lift the burden, let me share your pain,
Let me do everything I can to regain,

My summer best friend by the pool,
The one that taught me to break every rule.
The rebel who cares only about today
The one who wears a winter coat in May.

Don't you see Becky, I'm not ashamed?
I just don't want you to be renamed.
I miss the old you, the one that I know,
And with some help I know it can show

You will shine through the scars,
You must break through the bars.
Free your soul, let is soar,
So you may be more like yourself.
