Maybes and Murmurings

by ari   Aug 28, 2008

I want to hold hands with you as the sun gets low;
we'll let it cast our shadows for miles and miles,
softly together on lengths of grass and concrete.
Our silhouettes will overtake the sidewalks,
reaching the edge of conformity before
it even has a chance to chase us down.

I want to stand on tiptoes and kiss your neck;
you'll let me drink in your smell hesitantly,
never allowing me to get far from you.
My lips will leave a print promising futures,
here-and-nows of unsuppressed adoration
and eternities of tender devotion,

I want to lay near you as the stars come out;
you'll grab my hand and we'll make wishes all night,
saying them out loud as if we couldn't
give a damn about if they come true or not.
Together, all our maybes are forgotten
and become silly dreams we share in the dark.

I want you to see forever like I do:
it is spelled out in the sky with winking stars;
it is calculated with held hands and kisses;
it is illustrated by form and figure,
how I fit perfectly beneath your shoulder.
forever is a promise and I give you
my silly little murmurings in the dark,
my words, that I will be eternally yours.
