An Ocean Between Us

by Wishmaster   Sep 2, 2008

Just where can I begin
When there's an ocean between us
And when could I dive in
To a romance that never was

Forever and ever
I sit alone
And now I shall never
Be to your own

Because of those tragic days
I can't remember when
All of my happy ways
And I can never win

Forever and ever
I sit alone
And now I shall never
Be to your own

Where ever you are
When ever you cry out
I know what your motives are
And they are less than devout

Forever and ever
I sit alone
And now I shall never
Be to your own

Just where can I begin
When there's an ocean between us
And when could I dive in
To a romance that never was

Wow i loved this piece, it was so beautiful in its own painful and sad way.
love is a painful ride that is never easy, it has its highs and lows but the thing is that nothing in life is perfect, everyone deserves to be loved but love often ends up being the reason for a heart to break. it happens all to often and i am pretty sure that everyone can relate to the hurt which this poem portrays. i loved your reference to an ocean being the division between you and the person which you love. but eventually the ocean will wash away the pain and take along with it the tears that you have cried. a really great piece, i loved it. take care,

While the ending line still doesn't feel "right" for me, the overall effect of this poem merits more than just a "4"... the tone and aural sense is like an Orphus piece, more than just something I read on a page...the poet has a deftly used style that embraces the receiver and does not release it till near the end with a style that is consistent :) Well worth the read/experience!
