Bittersweet Lies

by Avrii Monrielle   Sep 3, 2008

You're making my heart beat faster and faster
Though all I see is a picture of you.
Treasured memories are shrouded in laughter
And the suffering that we've been through.

Tell her to quit asking who I like...
Clarify the indifference!
Say I like no one, for in truth, I do not --
I merely desire your affection.

My thoughts linger to wherever your touch has been
And my lips utter words that have been repeated.
Even, through the moments I've shared with you
The remembrance continues to blossom.

Share them with others, share them with me
Create new ones in your absence.
Imagination destroys the toughest of threads,
Including the ones that helped me keep a calm head.

Tell me why my thought careens to you
When you obviously have never seen the truth.
Answer the questions that could make my heart break
Because I'm exasperated with my attempts to tell you.

Why do you make my head spin,
Have you noticed, but never did tell?
I am crushed, but I'm breathing with hope that you'll listen
If I control my emotions well.

The bitter pounding comes back
And the Gothic-styled clock has struck one.
Cut off the tales and my bittersweet lies!
It's time that I pay for my crime.
