After the Rain

by Silent Versifier   Sep 9, 2008

That's when trouble started,
Water flowed from one place to another,
In a blink of an eye the shacks were already half full.
Dumbfounded they hailed,
As they saw dead bodies scattered all over.

People drowned, springs opened,
Rivers overflowed, roads were flooded,
Plants were uprooted, shacks were covered,
Graves were smashed, tombs were opened,
Could this be God's anger?

After the rain
Annihilation unveiled,
Lamentation started,
The nation was haunted,
For the loss they saw with barren eyes.

After some time, all was calm.
The ferocious water was still.
After the showers, life had to move on,
For the damage was already done.
After all, the rain has started and ended,
It was after the rain...

Your poem would be more complete if you were to add a day or month or something at the beginning of the first line for example:

August, that is when all trouble started

Now people don't know which moment in time you are referring to.

The poem is really well written, I must say:)
I will come back in the future to see how you are doing:)
It feels kinda special I get to be the first one to comment and vote on your work after a really bizarre start, he he.

    Take care!
