My Country

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Sep 17, 2008

Red, Green,Black and White.
The colors of my country are shining bright.
I would sleep on its ground if it were full of thorns.
Because this is the place where i was born.

This is my country.
And i am honored to say.
Despite our differences.
Patriotic we are at the end of the day.

Red is the blood of the honored martyrs.
The green are the leaves of my country's trees.
The black is my country's pride and dignity.
And white is the transparency of its breeze.

A moment of silence for our martyrs.
Both men and women alike.
The ones who sacrificed their lives.
And retaliated with their strikes.

Yes, I am proud of my country.
And why shouldn't i be?
I'd breathe its wind and kiss its sand.
And drink from its seas.

Its earth is my blanket.
Its safety is the ultimate aim.
We'd all rise up to protect it.
Its honor we will reclaim.

My country is my beginning.
And it will witness my end.
Under its earth i will be buried.
Its sand and i will blend.

Ashes to ashes.
And dust to dust.
To not express a few words about my country
Would be unjust.

This is to my country..
Although words are not enough.
To let it know it is my haven
Through the bad and rough.

Red is the blood of the honored martyrs.
The green are the leaves of my country's trees.
The black is my country's pride and dignity.
And white is the transparency of its breeze.

* To my beloved country, Kuwait.
