A Year Ago Today

A year ago today,
We said that we liked each other,
Said that we wanted to be together,
Even across the distance.

The day I met you,
Feels like it was only yesterday,
But it has been over a year.

My life was once dark,
Darker than the night sky,
Until you came into my life,
In the beautiful words of your poems.

You have made me laugh,
You have made me cry,
You have made me happy,
And you have made me smile.

You have made my life,
Better just by being there,
When I have needed you the most.

I am so glad we met,
You mean the world to me,
And you always will,
