The lake

by kerry   Oct 2, 2008

I'll take you to a place,
That i always love to be
A lake down by the dirt track,
Its open quiet and free

we could take a bright red blanket
have a glass of wine or two.
we could stroll into the water
watch the fish swimming through

or sit upon the bank
with your arms around me tight
we could even pitch a tent
lets stay there through the night

i love to watch the lake
as it flows forever long
we are here in the open
not a care nothings wrong

you can hear the sweet soft sound
of a bird in its flight
how he sweeps across the sky
flying home with all his might

how you ever seen a place
so peaceful open and free
i wanted you to share this feeling
want you here with me

lets imagine we can stay
on this lake forever more
we can lock out all the world
well what we waiting for

and when the world comes calling
and we have to set of home
we can always come back to this place
you and me all alone

and sit upon the bank
or watch the fish swim through
cherish all its beauty
alone just me and you...

    Kerry,

I really loved this poem, it is timeless and takes the reader (me) to an idealic land, where peace and beauty are all around. It is certainly somewhere I would love to go when this world becomes too much. Sharing this haven with a loved one makes it totally perfect, a private scene for your own pleasure.

    Well done
