Contentment

Our love is like the earth,
rock and grit; sand and ground.
At times it's like bush fire,
scorching and windy; wild and dangerous.
But mostly it's like the warm, peaceful beach,
just been touched by the sun's blinding rays.
There is something comfortable in my life,
warm and soft just like a favorite pair of slippers.
It may be the quiet knowing of silent shared contentment, the peace that is you and me.
Or that still connection that binds two souls,
Stronger than carbon fiber, more precious than gold.
We sit here lost in our own books,
Adventures not yet shared,
But we already know each other
And that love is deeper than the ocean bed.
