Not One Shard

by InvisiblyHeartless   Oct 12, 2008

Questions pound with every heart beat
New ones, repeated ones, unknown answers
Such an empty child without anything
Broken and shattered, nothing to give
The only bright spot she's ever known
Truly made her better, turned bitter
Her mistakes and lies erased their care
The boy who doesn't know the story
A young man of hidden amazement
He keeps her wrapped around his finger
Patient and gentle when she needs it
Silly and funny, easy to get attached
Falling for him with no halo or gown
Gravity can't slow her little fall
He said he'd always be there to catch her
No angel, no sweetness left in her
She gave him her only possession
Her very inside, the essence of life
A glued and taped heart to break
And then she's left with not one shard.
