Dying for Love

by KaceyBelladonna   Oct 26, 2008

Rearrange my face, Calmly blank.
Struggles and shouts of innocence,
They won't do any good,
They never did before.

Cold metal shackles circle my ankles and wrists
The sharp edge cutting deeply,
As did your words.

Well, I'm your prisoner now
In spirit if not in truth.
As the gallows come into view, there's nothing.
No feelings, no anger, no hurt.

Surely it's a noble way to die,
In the place of the one you love?
You're in the crowd. I avert my eyes.
You shouldn't be here to see me die.

The noose slips over my head
Settling 'round my neck with an easy familiarity.
No head cover for this criminal.

I find you, lock my gaze upon you.
There's no avoiding you now
With you in my every breath and thought.

I mumble my mantra, everyone will assume I'm only praying.
But I'm innocent, so I pray this instead:
For the one I love
For the one I love
For the one I love.

A thought spills over, Do you know?
I still love you! With a manic rush, I need to tell you!
Will it be too late? Is it too late? Will you never know?
Hurry! I Must do it now! Look at you! Scream it!
Loud as I can!
I love!...

you.
