The Clock

by waiting for the unknown   Nov 9, 2008

I sit here in somber silence
Hearing a ticking ticking tock
My every thought in defiance
Against that bloody clock

With each swing of its pendulum
My heart gives out a miserable groan
Being away from you for so long is toilsome
My body aches to the bone

The clock is mine-sworn rival
It counts the days your away
It mocks my relentless survival
Of your safe return I pray

How can you absence, make me love you more?
This is what I ponder
But the clock says as it has before
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
