Soldier's diary

by DK   Nov 22, 2008

Back to bed with you by my side
bringing back to me my strength and pride
a face i would fight for, protect and defend
a smile that I'd die to see again

the blood and sweat that stains my eye
will never equal a tear that you'd cry
the aches and blisters that plagues my foot
is the price I'd pay to keep her safe

the smile i fake to keep her calm
the lies to keep her safe from harm
enduring the pain that burns my skin
ten times worse than those you've been

i lay down here and stretch my hands
to grab your mirage and together we danced
my life is deprived of the love you tore
as i dream of you at the departure hall
