You Ask

by Jenna   Nov 23, 2008

You ask why I build walls?
I can't explain it to you.
If only you had walked through my shoes.
You don't know, can't even begin to fully understand,
the damage to my heart that's been caused by man.
Broken promises, broken trust.
Going crazy trying to find out if it's love or just lust.
Empty words whispered in my ear,
pillow cases stained by the flow of my tears.
You say you're not like them, you're not like that.
But how can I not protect my heart?
When that's what I've had to do from the start.
