Suddenly?

by Emily   Dec 7, 2008

I don't know when this happened,
Or how this came to be,
But suddenly I'm entranced,
With the you I'm beginning to see...

These etheral emotions,
That I've long since learned to fear,
Are wakening hopes and dreams,
That I used to hold quite dear.

The only trouble with soaring,
Is the increased chance of a fall,
Such risk is involved in love,
Dare I answer your heart's call?

There was a time when I was,
Quite infatuated with you,
But it was a foolish emotion,
and my heart was rent in two.

As time went on God slowly healed,
The pieces of my shattered soul,
He showed me my immaturity,
And with His love made me whole.

He gave me the strength and grace,
To continues as your friend,
To my surprise I found in you,
Someone on whom I can depend.

I do not wish to repeat,
A foolish and painful mistake,
So as our friendship deepens,
I'll pray that my heart won't break.

May my focus be on Jesus,
My trust be in Christ each day,
I'll be your friend and sister,
And keep hurtful emotions at bay.

My heart rejoices in the Lord,
To me He has always been true,
And with a joyful heart I know,
That He'll guide my friendship with you.
