Thank you

He sits down, helmet in his lap
dust in the air fills his view
his uniform is warm
the temperature only 92 degrees

he can't believe the torture
of finding dismembered body parts
of children, fellow comrades
from just one war

he gives a little smile
he should be home in a few months
to see his wife and children
who he left to help save America

soldier, we are proud
for all you've done for us
and for our country..
thank you..
