Candles of Flesh

by Krissymkitty   Dec 15, 2008

Burning red fire
In the soft black
Of the room
Lighting the jarred corner
That juts out suddenly
To give the look
Of a broken room

Above the candle
A note on black paper
White pen wrote
"Candles of Flesh
Boil the blood
Of burnt bodies
And tortured sold
As I take this drink
Of thick liquid
May my soul die
And my heart stop
But my body
Still alive
Let the thirst
Guide me
The hunger
Not render me
But protect me
From those
Who want to hurt
The knowledge
Of knowing
So much
Of one animal
In itself
Let me live
In death
As a cold hearted
Soulless
Blood-sucker..."

She took a drink
As her soul
Tore out of her body
Wrapping itself tight
Into a candle of Flesh
Burning red of blood

When she drank
The red grew darker
As the soul candle
Grew blacker

When she didn't
The red turned blue
Burning her on the inside
And her soul grew whiter
Trying to re-attach itself
To her body
Trying to go back to her

So she'd drink
To stop the horrid pain
It was just too much

As nights lingered
And the candle
Grew darker
She lost all humanity
And became
The beast
She so desperately
Wanted to be
Stalking the night
With a crazed look
In her eyes
Vampyre...
