We Fade Away

by Paiger   Dec 19, 2008

Whatever I thought was there
Is now too hard to see
The search that it would take
Needs too much energy

My heart doesn't have the strength
To look for what it can't instantly see
So it's ready to let go,
To let you slip away from me

Now as I feel it less and less
That feeling inside of me
I realize what we could have been
but I no longer want this to be

So as we fade away
I have to hide myself from regret
I know this is what must happen
So I need not be upset

I really liked this poem, and felt that the simplicity of it added to the emotions. My favorite stanza was this:
"My heart doesn't have the strength
To look for what it can't instantly see
So it's ready to let go,
To let you slip away from me"
I've felt this way before, so I could relate. 5/5
