His angel

by Prince LJ   Dec 21, 2008

He called him his angel
the one his heart held dear
tightening his grip to be sure he's near
beautiful wings so soft and pure
to match the face
staring back from the mirror

his angel begins to awaken
gasping for breath he begins to fight
struggling free with all his might
from the death grip angel breaks free
opening his eyes for the first time to see
the world out there, free of an owner

as he begins to live
he spreads his wings to fly
to discover that his master
had clipped them down
to prevent an independent flight
binding his angel and him to the same ground

the angel reaches back
and tears off his wings
freed from his captivity
and inside his soul he feels a sting
something so natural
it gives him hope

no longer an object
just a mere man
finally free
to do what he can
his life belongs to him alone
and takes a place on his new life throne
