Beginning

by Skyfire   Jan 15, 2009

You remember that day,
the one where you showed up before the sun did?
I put a hat on, embarassed,
my hair had turned into a haystack.
It was wild that day, for such short hair.
I slept in the car, because you wouldn't say
where we were going, and the hum of the engine
pulled my eyes closed.
I held your hand, so I wouldn't dream without you.
There was a lake still dark with stars,
and when we arrived you put chairs
right at the edge so we could see the sky up close.
The sun came up and I couldn't help but sigh,
just a breath, really,
I only had one to spare.
The rest were gone, lost in the bright yellow and orange.
Oh, and a little pink.
My cheeks were pink too, when you gave me a kiwi
and then kissed me.
You remember that day?
