Inner You

by Prince LJ   Feb 1, 2009

I see the version of you
right before my eyes
And then I hear the things you say
it brings me back to our glory days
The overall package may be different
But the contents remain the same

Something about the way you speak
Seems to strike me deep within
It reawakens a part of me
I never thought would breathe again
The part you killed back then
The one I never wanted to revisit

It's something about who you are
The image that the world sees
And the real you that is here with me
The differences are so vast and far
But remain unseen by those outside
Unable to see our ties that bind

The outward appearance may be different
and time may have changed us in various ways
our dwindling spark beings to reignite
and maybe just maybe we can quit this endless night
our past damage is done, and cannot be erased
but the love we share will always stay, this is our fate
