STILL I RISE...

by robert rush   Feb 15, 2009

STILL I RISE... still i strive, in the midst of chaos i paint pictures with abandon buildings & vacant lots serving as my backdrop. I walk graffiti bridges that pledge allegiance to the defiance of the alliance formed to impede my progress...STILL I RISE.

STILL I RISE...still i progress, embedded in stress i refuse to digress & bring shame to Brown vs Board of Education on how to educate me. I live in the spirit of Thurgood Marshall, fighting against me. I dream dreams that closed eyes can't see, even when there's dark clouds that covers the dark veil that's covering me...STILL I RISE.

STILL I RISE...still i seek what most said i would never achieve. Sadly, they were the fools if they thought for one moment i would receive, what they attempted to make me believe. They didn't know that my dad calls me King& my sister Queen, so my self respect triples my self-esteem, still your greed prevents you from producing the funds the Chicago Public School System needs...STILL I RISE.

STILL I RISE... still i have the Audacity of Hope , the Audacity to cope with the many obstacles thrown in my path, I have, the fortitude, ambition & strength that Angela Davis embody, so nobody can stop me, I am destined to be great. It is I, who dictates my success or failure. Barrack Obama has already brought smiles to the Elders, now I'll be the next one to make it to the White House from a shelter...STILL I RISE.
