I Just Need A Second

by Jordan W   Feb 26, 2009

I see you sitting there
Across the room
Arms around another man's neck
Eyes locked with his
And I think deep down
Why can't you be mine?
Why can't you stop for a second?
And see a friend who's always wanted to be more
Take a second
To glance over at me
As I sit and stare
At the girl of my dreams
And look deep into my eyes
And see the truth of my heart

Take a minute
Take a second
All I need is that to show you all that I hold inside
For sitting here is torture
For every second more you spend fawning over him
I slowly die inside
My heart tightens
And my hopes die

All I need is the courage
To simply ask you aside
To simply ask you to listen
Yet even that I cannot muster

So here I sit
Staring and longing
For the day to come
When you finally look into my eyes
And see the way I really look at you
To see deep into my soul
And finally realize
That I am the man
Who has always loved you.

I really like this poem. It was heartfelt and the way the words flow was outstanding. I caught myself catching my breath a few times, because of how beautiful I thought this poem was. Depending on the perspective, this piece was sad, but happy. Like in the poets perspective, it's kind of sad, because he can't build up the courage to talk to the girl of his dreams. But if in the girl's perspective, it's flattering. Idkk, I think I'm mumbling now. lol But really, amazing write :] 5/5

Nice heartfelt write, If I could get past all the, "you" "me" "I" "her" I know it is hard to write a "love" poem without using such vocabulary, however; if you could, this would be an outstanding write and the same goes for the rest of the cliche love writting people do.

The overall meaning behind the poem however was a setiment in it's own, very well thought out like most of your poems, but again as I stated in a different comment, there is no punctuation at all. Punctuation is very important in poetry since it allows the reader to know when to pause or stop as well as adding to the overall flow.

Overall a well written poem...and with some work it can be fantastic.

    Peace, Joe
