Oranges in a garden

by Ares   Mar 6, 2009

A thin cotton dress thrown,
in a heated moment across the room.
I know by the fire in your eyes...
it is time for the world to stop.

Sunlight slips through the curtains.
It is eager to know what's happened.
Satisfied it finds us entangled together,
in a bed that was built only for us.

The beat of our hearts mixed with the melody of our breath,
creates a symphony worthy of Mozart's envy.
"Why didn't I think of this?" he wonders, as his ghost turns and walks out of our bedroom.

It is something only you and I can create.
It belongs to no one but us.

The look you gave me as you slowly opened your eyes and found that it was I who stared back at you with a soft smile of happiness.

It rocked me.

"We've made it, haven't we?" you whisper.
It is so clear to us both now. This is it. The love people talk about. It's here.

"We have.." I barely manage to whisper back as I embrace not only you but our future as well.

Oranges in a garden we'll have, freshly picked every morning we shall enjoy them. It will be our time.
