Driest Desert (Your love is Quenching)

by Weeping Wolf   Mar 9, 2009

My compass is broken.
And my maps are frayed to ash,
Endless dunes of flaws surround me
And a sandstorm has come to blind me
So, this is Helpless. This is Lost.
All my life, I had known the path
Love, a twisted labyrinth I memorized
How to fall in, and get out, alive.

But you led my soul out in the dead of night
And I turned my eyes to you instead of moonlight
And took me off the fairly trodden road
And loved me in a way I've never known
And now I'm in too deep, and its too late
that path has disappeared, and I can't escape.

And I suddenly feel like my whole life
I'd been walking through the driest desert
That subtle, shallow love was left unsatisfied
And this feeling is like droplets on a rose
Your love is quenching, it ebbs and flows
And every time you go, I fall in the sand
Lost without you, stumbling in the desert
Asking "Whats the point of my existence
if this isn't for forever?"

And my lips are dry for your kisses
And my body is tired for your arms
But right when I think I've reach your oasis
I see your arms reach out, but the image fades...
But sometimes, you leave a drop of devotion or two
And I soak in and savor every ounce of you
Because you love so differently from anyone
That your presence inside me is an ocean...

My heart is dry without you
My heart is dry without you
Your love is quenching
There is nothing more satisfying, more true.

And I suddenly feel like my whole life
I'd been walking through the driest desert
That subtle, shallow love was left unsatisfied
And this feeling is like droplets on a rose
Your love is quenching, it ebbs and flows
And every time you go, I fall in the sand
Lost without you, stumbling in the desert
Asking "Whats the point of my existence
if this isn't for forever?"

Now, lost in the soothing darkness of you
let me swirl and dance in your dreams
Because it was all in that moment, but not in vain,
that I took my eyes off Sirius to gaze at you,
and I've never yet looked away.
