The Tree

by EMO   Mar 21, 2009

My branches hold the mighty world
As if, Atlas had let me hold it.
Many humans have climbed these branches,
To see through my eyes,
The view of our world from above.

I have seen the predators seek out their prey.
I have seen life thrive in my branches.
I have seen the light that illuminates our world,
Come up and down many times.

Many a philosopher has rested his head on my trunk.
Many a man has cut my brothers down.

However, I live on.
