Silent Broken Promises

by InvisiblyHeartless   Mar 27, 2009

The promise I wish to ask of you
It's nothing right in anyone's eyes
I wouldn't dream of hurting you
Putting you in that simple position
That's really more complex, centered
Life goes crazy, nothing will stick
I know that telling you would really hurt
You would deny my wish, permanently
At the same time it cut into me
You would hope not to cause me pain
Yet your rejection still does somehow
I knew I would instantly regret
Putting my heart's emotion in words
But you're my sunshine, you are safe
You wouldn't really hurt me,
With a lethal edge in your voice
With a goal to scare me, push me away
Because you see, I'd rather suffer in silence
