Someday We'll Fly Away

by ImperfectBliss   Apr 4, 2009

Someday we'll set our footsteps upon the greying sand

And finally breathe in the purified light of the wind

Maybe someday we'll learn that someone to hold

Is simply not enough these days

Someday we'll figure out that quiet 'like' is not sufficient

That someone to touch your lips to is not always satisfying

And maybe we'll learn to control our hearts, our hormones

To pick and choose wisely, not looking for a hand to hold

Someday maybe we'll take a lesson from the penguins

And choose only one lover to love our entire life

Instead of casting bits and pieces of our heart all over the place

Hoping, pleading, for the right one to gather them all back

Someday maybe we'll realize that tearing ourselves apart for a simple kiss

Possibly isn't the happiest way to live our lives,

With multiple hands and multiple lips and multiple smiles and multiple "I Love You"s

And look with open eyes for the one who truly deserves us

Someday, maybe, we'll fly away from the stereotype of always needing a love

And learn to hold our hands out to the one that shines above all the rest,

Even when they're hidden from view.
