Perfect catch

by Prince LJ   Apr 8, 2009

I used to dream of the day
I would wear your ring
Upon my finger
The life we would share
the memories we would make
our lasting footprint for all to see

But those days are gone
My blissful ignorance
has at last been lifted
beyond the cloak you show the public
behind promises made of empty words
and a mask designed to please

I see what you really are
Beyond the facade the world knows
A once pure heart now turned sour
Merely a boy walking in the shoes of a man
so lost, confused, and hurt
Do what you do best and run away

Take away our memories
Forget that an us ever existed
Place our pictures in a box
Light it with a match
When your old and lonely
Think back to me and say
"I missed out on my perfect catch"
