A Lover's Hope

by Jordan W   May 17, 2009

Heart pounding rapidly,
Eyes stuck as though glued in place,
I cannot look away,
I cannot shift my gaze no matter how I try,
My head goes light and my pulse quickens.
I fear that all can hear this hammering in my chest.
I fear that all can hear my thoughts aloud.
What would she say if she could hear this hammering heart of mine?
What would she say if she knew all that passed behind these eyes?
What would she say,
If she knew that all I wanted,
Was to just hold her tight against my chest,
To rest my head on hers,
To kiss her gently in the dark of night,
And whisper words of passion in her ear.
Would she return my tight embrace?
Would she kiss me back as I long for?
Would she whisper anything into the silence?
