This is one poem which has thousand meanings behind every word and i really love such poems. Very heartfelt description.
Loved the way you presented value of family compared to a tree with no leaves left.
    Simply beautiful!!

all the best and take care

Cindy, when I read this I think not of a tree but a person from a family left alone by circumstances, being strong for the others forgotten by them. Very powerful words. Well done.

That is how family is...is that one person
which keeps the family together & when that
person goes the family slowly brekas away..
its a pity...this write touched me deeply.

    Cindy,
Such a beautiful and yet sad write. I looked at the picture again and noticed there is just one little leaf on the whole tree. That's pretty amazing and the story that was woven from it is also. The poem describes so many aspects in our lifes. I found it describing the "empty nest" syndrome. We can experience that in so many ways. A beautiful write as always.

Wow! Another great poem from you Cindy. I looked at the image before reading the poem and I must say you described it perfectly.

"One dried leaf clinging to an old twisted branch"

"Holding on tightly with little life left"

Those two lines intrigued me, i'm not sure if I have this right or wrong, but to me that last leaf symbolizes hope? Anyways you've written another beautiful poem!

    keep up the good work,

A beautiful sad write, The imagery it created was perfect. Isn't it a beautiful thought to know that in the spring the leaves on the tree return, and we realize the beauty was always there just in a different way. I hope you are doing well Cindy.

My friend, you have penned a beautiful and realistic piece here.I hope that all who read it will re-evaluate what they have in a family.
My family tree had 3 green leaves, my mom, my eldest sister and my eldest brother.
Two leaves feel and god knows I pray each day for the last leaf (my brother to stay on that vital stem which keeps the rest of the tree standing.
    Very well penned.
Keep up the great work my friend.
    An enjoyable read.

    Cindy,

this is such a sad write from you. Using the 'family tree' in its literal terms as an actual tree, then bringing it back full circle by using it metaphorically for a 'family' - very good.

All the leaves (members of the family) have one by one moved on. It is sad for the lone leaf that has grown tired waiting for their return falls without them knowing..The image of this leaf falling is so clear and is effective in painting a sad ending to this poem. Life is shorter than we think. Don't put of until tomorrow what can be done today.

    ((hugs))
