The nightmare awake.

by Fantasy   Jul 31, 2009

I cant deny the sound of the front door screeching open,
I cant deny the shuffled steps in the kitchen. And a throaty laugh by my bedroom door.

I tuck my head under my covers, and pray the I am dreaming.
I squeezed my eyes shut and stopped my breath short.

I cant forget the sound of my door opening.
And the feeling of eyes on me.
I cant shake the feeling of being terrified.

I jump up, awakened by a terrifying dream.
I squint in to the dark, adjusting to the limited light.
A shadow walks closer, or so I thought.

"Did I wake you?" A rough, throaty laugh. My scream cut short.
