BAD DAY

by Bethany   Aug 3, 2009

The night burst into dusk
sun lit through the window
another day to be on earth
time was ticking so slow.
Inch by inch the sun comes up
the grass green the sky blue
the warm breeze flutters in
making me think of you.
Outside the sun warms my skin
a cool breeze through my hair
the sun tickles warmth through me,
spending this day with you is hard to bear.
so i wait, minute by minute,
as time grew closer
i stare at the clock
as my heart beat faster
The grass, the sun, the sky
waited for you to come
i thought for a moment
feeling dumb
asked myself, why would you come?
the day was beautiful, just like you
so why would you come?
when you would have better things to do?
my hope of your company rose
when i remembered you said
you promised you'd be there,
to share this day with me.
Then i froze
were you here?
no that's just me.
I stared at the ticking clock
i had nothing to fear
so i waited and waited
staring into the blue sky
hoping you'd be here soon
knowing fully well you wouldn't lie.
The beautiful day went on
now i just couldn't cope
waiting was done
you gave me false hope.
You broke your promise.
You lied.
I waited.
Then i cried.
The day grows dark,
I had nothing to do
you didn't come when you should.
But i still kept waiting
thinking you would.
The day is night
that beauty all gone
I just gave up
the day was all done.
I felt cold
although the night was warm,
i wanted to burst into tears
i felt so torn.
That promise was nothing
it was nothing to you
it meant the world to me
but you had no clue.
I grab a box of pictures
on the bed i lay
the pictures scatter on the floor,
today was a BAD DAY.
