A Wish Come True

by Jerilyn Powell   Aug 30, 2009

If I could have one wish
A wish that would come true
If I could just go to sleep
And never again wake
Everything would be perfect

No longer would I notice
This sharp ache in my chest
This pain that confuses me
Its a new, foreign thing
That makes me wince with ever breath

Oh, how I writhe
Drowning every night in a sea of agony
Crying out for comfort
Only to be found when blood bubbles from my skin
Dripping down my arm
It makes me smile
Warms me to the core

Lay me down, it's time for a nap
Don't worry, The pain is going away
And you'll feel better when you wake
For you'll never wake by me again
