The Prince of Hearts- Tribute To Baba Jaber

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Sep 2, 2009

You are the smell of my country.
You are the memory of this land.
Kuwait will never forget you.
It has embraced you beneath its sands.

When you died.
All of us were so sad.
You were our father figure.
You were the hope of this land.

And when the invasion happened.
You rallied our cause abroad.
Your voice was choking with tears.
Watching that clip of yours still remains hard.

The land itself has mourned you.
Its trees, its seas, its air.
We all united in grieving your loss.
Your relationship with the people was a love affair.

You looked past the sectarianism.
And you wanted us all to join our hands.
When we asked you gave us.
Our wishes was your command.

Prince of hearts, we miss you.
Kuwait still screams your name.
Since the time you passed away.
The country was never the same.

But people like you will live forever.
Your rule was fair, bloodless, and just.
You taught us how to persevere.
And how in God we should trust.

You are the smell of my country.
You are the memory of this land.
Prince of hearts, Kuwait has never forgotten you.
It has embraced you beneath its sands.

* This is for the late Prince of Kuwait, Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah. He passed away at January 15, 2006 having ruled Kuwait for 28 years. At that day, the Kuwaiti people lost their father, mentor and hero. Good prince, Rest In Peace.
