A Word

by Amy Dunlop   Sep 25, 2009

A word with you my captain?
I salute with pride
With my right hand on my left breast plate
And my pistol by my side

A word with you my captain?
My soul is soaked with fear
I hear the shots and dying screams
And death is drawing near

A word with you my captain?
My love is home alone
Knowing nothing of the outside world
Or her husband too far gone

A word with you my captain?
I pray you let her know
That she in this world was my sunshine
And that i loved her so
