A Hidden Christmas Poem

by LenaLee   Oct 4, 2009

I am afraid. You should be too.
Stars. Moon. Snow. Lights. Bells. Songs.
What if... we never see them again...we...humanity...
No, the thought is not one I want to think of tonight.
In the future...
No, don't think about that either.
Our sons and daughters...
The disaster of the world...
Hurricanes...heat waves...tsunamis..
Dying...Our world is dying.

Our world is precious to every living soul,
We treasure each moment into our memory,
Feelings of joy, sorrow, warmth, cold,
We keep them all inside and throw away the key.

And once in a while-the key reappears,
We share our long-ago memories and past,
Reminiscing in great dreams and secret fears,
Inside us lies a world within our grasp.

But the real world is changing much too fast,
Our future is very much at stake,
Will Global Warming make our generation the last?
If not, how long until our final mistake?

I fear the future and it's demons,
They tear us apart inside,
Constant fear will ruin the fun,
So we do nothing but run and hide.

The world is slowly breaking down,
Earth is no invincible haven,
Will someone step up to claim the Hero's Crown?
I'm sure the time will come...but when?

For now, let's bask in Christmas light,
Forget the horrid things that lie in our minds,
Let us live freely once more this sacred night,
And leave the evil...

To stay behind.
