Aftermath

by Emily   Nov 4, 2009

I'll tear out my heart,
while it's still beating,
And I'll be able to murmur
Throughout all the bleeding
Despite the fact my oxygen
Is steadily depleting,
"I'm madly in love with you."

And I feel the empty hole,
That is still just needing,
and I'm not the person,
who can do all the feeding.
I can't stand the fact that
You're so misleading.
"Please, love me too"

And I'll forget my dignity
And drop to my knees pleading
For this garden of roses,
I'll do all the weeding
I tremble and sigh,
With a voice most defeated,
"You are my everything."

Can you see all the scars?
My pain has not receded.
Please take my hand,
The warnings were not heeded
You're not the man for me,
But with hope I'm still breathing.
"You are the one for me."

And I'll remember the bitter times,
Because I still feel the beating,
You left me long ago
And away it's still eating
When our eyes lock
The next time we're meeting
"I've waited for you."
