Love of the blind

by Zulay Martinez   Dec 21, 2009

I walked on ice so frail it could shatter
I've been through winds that blew so hard it sliced my skin
No greater a challenge than to face yourself
To accept the news and be left alone
Being surrounded by others and still feel empty
Long lived the scars of a faithful night
A night so silent when innocence was gone
For a faithful moment I made the biggest mistake of all
Now I live in regret full of beauty and sorrow
Full of unrecognized pain only seen in the dark
I loved most of all
I loved once again so others could see me fall
I've made mistakes just to repeat them all
Yet I walk with others carrying the biggest burden of all
Love is bittersweet, a nectar for the dumb
Love is a diamond for the greedy, food for the homeless
Strength for the willing and death for those defeated
Love is the rarest thing of all
And I struggle to find it
