Why Is Love So Interchangeable?

by Serena   Jan 6, 2010

And why is love so interchangeable..
treated as something easily passed around.
the words lose their meaning and
all that is left is sound.

so soon things reach a point,
a point of no return
and you know what is coming as
your heart aches and stomach churns

you know that soon after
being left in the dust
your iron-strong will,
shall crumble like rust

you ask yourself how this came to be
what had resulted in this catastrophy

people change as they should
memories fade as they would
and we don't know why it must be as such

yet the heart still beats
and the lungs still breathe
as we try to continue on with any luck.

the earth still turns
the pain still burns
and the heart, with it's yearning
still calls out for attention

we question happenings
forgetting all logic and reasoning
we torment ourselves with what ifs
never ceasing

if more could have been done
to save what's most precious to us
fighting the urge to break
in god we've lost trust

yet somehow we manage
to keep going strong
moving forth step by step
our heart continuing on..
