Alison's Farewell

by Daniel Rutter   Jan 18, 2010

You would think;
It was plenty of time to move on,
But the months are rolling by,
Leaving your memories on my mind.

I've heard you've found someone new,
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hurt,
But what exactly did we have?
I guess it wasn't anything special.

I confused myself into loving you,
Even though the rules were clear,
Yet here I am regretting it still,
Trying to move on.

Even though someone else wants my heart,
I can't shake those memories of you,
Those moments of ecstasy and laughter,
That defined our friendship.

Thats all it was, right?
Thats all you ever wanted, right?
Despite all that I knew the first time I saw you,
That you were going to mean more to me.

I told you that,
I scared you away,
Yet now I hear that you've found love,
I guess I wasn't what you were looking for.

So I guess it's time to move on,
It's so hard to push aside your memories,
Though I'm trying so hard,
Because in some crazy way,
You'd want me to be happy,
I know I said some nasty things,
When you broke my heart,
But you're not heartless...
And you'd want me to move on.

So for you,
I will.
And despite my jealousy,
I know that you always knew,
What you wanted,
And He...
Is obviously what you want.
And guess what?
I'm happy that you've found him.
