Scarred

Scarred

Unrequited love deals a deadly blow.
Blessed are those to whom this pain never knows.

Unscarred by the ardorous flame it makes;
how fortunate are the innocent of whom it escapes.

Oh to be free again, loosed from loves heavy chains;
an impenetrable fortress so my heart ever remains.

Evil are these dreams full of love returned in fold;
only to awaken by day, the same tomorrows to behold.

Satans key could give me quick release.
A sure hope in hand should God refuse my pleas.

How to quench this fire running through my veins;
wild is this passion uncontrolled by any reins.

How is healing possible for those who took the fall,
when the only cure is to have never loved at all.
