Elegant Rose

by Tilly Louise   Mar 25, 2010

Like a rose, I sat there in my glory, letting all see,
But no one was allowed to see the real me.
Thorns around myself to keep people away,
Yet you came along and picked me for your bouquet,

Some of my petals fell, right down to the floor,
Yet you reasured me I'd grow some more.
You held onto me tight, and never gave me away,
I still take my thorns down for you to this day.

Out of the entire flower bed, it was me you chose,
The one in the corner, the elegant rose.
Full of life, but not enough colour,
Yet you still chose me over every other.

Through the rain I continued to grow,
You sat back, I could tell you would know.
How to treat me right, and not let me fade,
You are the person who has brough out my true shade.

I blossom all day, you made me bloom over night,
You are my sun, my only true light.
You held my hand through my everything,
You are the protection, you are my angel wing.

You keep the bad away from me,
Yet you understand and see what I see.
You listen to my everything, and know what to do,
There's something about what you do.

You look after me, and keep me growing,
I now have my own garden bed, where I'm the only one glowing.
In your eyes there is no other flower you wish to hold,
Without you, my world turns cold.
