The Raging Silence

by Talie   Apr 28, 2010

This morning when I woke up,
I realized you were gone,
no one lay so close beside me,
softest whispers ceased to caress my heart,
nor trace their fingers through my hair,
as I had lain here dreaming of you,
my eyes wide open and I alone took up this bed,
laying in wait like a spider within an empty web,
waiting and waiting, until I felt dead -
just laying there not knowing when it would end,
or I was like a skeleton; forced to lay alone,
detached by cold, earthy curtains and solid, cedar walls;
and as I waited in the raging silence,
sadness soaking through my bones,
the sun broke through the walls,
like fingers being poked through clouds,
I heard your voice outside the door,
calling me back fervently to your side.
