What a beautiful piece. Searching for a love that is lost. Your imagery is breath taking.

So stars, keep burning all night long
My bruised heart's song is silenced mute
The heavens cannot right this wrong
    Nor offer calming substitute.

There is never a substitute for a lost love. Nothng but to feel them again can soothe a broken heart.

The shining stars, I'll gladly miss
To your warm kiss, they cannot measure
The bright heavens offer no bliss
Your sweet caress, a greater treasure.

How much we would trade to have that love return to us once more.

    Excellent job!
    *hugs

Thank you for your kind words, Cindy! My academic schedule didn't allow much me time for poetry these last few months. But my classes are over for a while. These thoughts came to after taking a long walk in a park.....
