The story of my one!!

I'm trying to tell a story,
to tell it in a rhyme,
how I loved a girl,
but it was at the wrong time.

She was with another,
I was on my own.
I tried to make her realise,
I tried to make her see.

That her other lover,
wasn't meant to be.
Told her I would wait forever,
no matter what it took.

I kept living my life,
keeping my feelings inside.
Then we shared a moment,
but it still wasn't right.

I was leaving,
going overseas.
Not for just a holiday,
but to live out a dream.

2 years I was going for,
to the other side of the world.
But we had that moment,
that could have changed it all.

But you didn't wanna change,
all the plans that I had made.
So our moment lasted,
just 14 days.

I got on that plane,
and I went away.
I lasted 6 weeks,
of those long two years.

I came back hoping,
that you'd still be mine.
I was mistaken,
your love for me was broken.

We stayed friends,
through it all.
Just like we had,
like so many times before.

In that time,
she got back with her old lover.
They had a baby together,
happy family ever after.

Just over a year has passed,
and we hadn't spoken for that long.
I thought I had moved on,
with my life.

But out of the blue,
after all we'd been through.
I get a text,
from her that night.

Telling me I was right,
about her lover not being right.
I said I won't rub it in like that,
I just wanted to catch up.

So catch up we did,
it was just like old times.
Best of friends,
until the end.

I didn't know,
I still felt that way.
I'll do anything,
to call you mine again.

So I'm waiting for our moment,
for the right time.
I don't want to miss it,
I can't this time.
