Like A Rose

by Angela   Jun 18, 2004

We've started at the bottom
Like the end of a rose,
You said you liked my hair
I said I liked your clothes.

We inched up the stem
Watching for little flaws,
Smoothed the jagged edges
Away from their pointed claws.

At the top of the stem
We expressed I Love You,
The true beauty began
Starting at the petal's hue.

We explored each other's feelings
While flipping through each petal,
Each month passed by quickly
As our love grew strong as metal.

We're to the rose's core
Our love is now sincere,
Our love is like a rose
It represents one year.
