Pain is a blessing

by Patricia   Oct 23, 2010

It rings fear in the hearts of the broken
when these three little words are spoken.
the path we had chosen left us open....
the pain came soon after.

It's bite can be deadly-
but love has a face that is just as friendly.
where am i going? where did u take me?
feeling lost with no one to save me.
hated my thoughts & the way they plagued me.

The past can't be changed, so I carry some scars.
praying no one sees them deep in my heart.
tried to keep it together but things fall apart.
destined to love, to hate & soon we'd depart.

But it still felt so cold, so there I stood froze,
denial hid the truth I couldn't unfold.
could I be a human without a soul?
Numb until anger took control.
love left me alone, it's time to move on.
can't make something right when you know it's wrong.

I often dreamt while class was in session...
relentless love came in the form of a lesson.
it took putting u first
to see i shouldnt come second
& the pain, i have to admit, was more like a blessing.
