Our song

by Tom   Nov 6, 2010

Do you remember the song we used to listen to?
That was our song
I used to sing it to you remember?
To us it meant something
I sang it to you whenever you felt tired remember?
The song was your lullaby
Oh how peaceful you looked when you slept,
I would brush my fingertips gently across your cheek
And just watch you,
Listening to you breathe

Do you remember when I played the song for you?
My fingertips gliding across the keys,
on our slick black piano
You said I played it so beautifully remember?
You would sit beside me on the stool,
using the little space I could spare,
and join me with the playing
We always felt like one person remember?
We never wanted the song to end

Now we are old,
but that has always been our song
We have listened to it forever,
and will never stop
It will and always has been in our hearts,
as has our love
For as long as we have and shall be together
