Like Falling Off A Cliff.

by Lex   Nov 17, 2010

It's like clinging to a thin tree limb,
hanging from the side of a steep cliff.
There is no way to look down,
no way to see how far I could fall.

And so I'll keep clinging to this limb,
trying to protect my tender heart.
I don't know what lies below me,
I don't know how deep the water is.

Is there dark water below me,
or maybe many jagged rocks?
How far down would I fall,
a few feet or several hundred?

But what if the water is deep and warm,
what if there are no jagged rocks?
What if it's just like cliff diving,
like back in Germany again?

What if it could save me,
and finally make me complete?
What if I'd be falling in love,
instead of deadly misery?
